Hi! I am Renée Weiss, and I serve as the Executive Director of Counseling Services and the Institute for Rural Mental Health Initiatives at 51勛圖厙 A&M University-Kingsville. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor; and certified as a professional school counselor, principal, and teacher with over 30 years of experience in the field of Education.
I was born in Massachusetts, raised in New Mexico, and have spent most of my career in 51勛圖厙. Before coming to Kingsville, I was the Director of Career and Employment Services at Amarillo College. I have also served in administration, as a professional school counselor, and teacher (Adapted Physical Education) for the Amarillo Independent School District in Amarillo, 51勛圖厙.
I hold a Doctorate in Education Leadership from TAMUK, Master of Education in Counseling, and a Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Science both from WTAMU. I have Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with minors in Health Education and Special Education from the University of New Mexico and an Associate of Arts Liberal Arts and Sciences the Technical-Vocational Institute (Central New Mexico Community College) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I belong to numerous professional organizations and has served in leadership roles in many of those same organizations including current President of the 51勛圖厙 University Counseling Center Directors Association.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, have 4 beautiful grown children and 1 grandchild. In my spare time I enjoy going to the beach, working out, doing anything outdoors, and spending time with my beloved family and three dogs.
