Group Fitness Classes
Not your average workout — our group fitness classes are designed to energize your body and your college experience. From Rise & Grind to Tone & Sculpt, every class is a chance to sweat, smile, and show up for you.

- The GroupEX room is located in the SPEC racquetball courts and will be opened 5 minutes before class starts.
- For 5:30 am classes, please use the door on Ave C facing the Tennis Courts. Parking available in Parking Lot 11.
- Faculty and Staff only classes are limited to TAMUK faculty, staff, and retirees and require a paid Faculty and Staff Membership.
Class Descriptions
- We recommend bringing a towel and water bottle to all group exercise classes.
- All equipment needed for classes is provided. To create the healthiest environment possible, members who want to use a mat (especially for yoga classes) should bring their own.
This high-energy, HIIT-style class is built to ignite your metabolism, boost your mood, and have you crushing your goals before the sun’s even up.

Class Passes
GroupEx Class Passes will be included in all RecSports Summer 2025 memberships and are valid from May 12th-August 8th.
No GroupEx classes will be held on Memorial Day (May 26), Juneteenth (June 19), and Independence Day (July 4).
The Faculty/Staff Class Pass will be included for those with RecSports memberships only for the 2025 Summer semester.
The Alumni/Retiree Class Pass will be included for those with RecSports memberships only for the 2025 Summer semester.
The Community Class Pass will be included for those with RecSports memberships only for the 2025 Summer semester.

TAMUK Certified Personal Training Program
Join Recreational Sports for a rewarding training opportunity! We’re seeking dedicated individuals who are passionate about fitness and eager to gain valuable experience on a one-on-one basis with certified professionals. This internship offers the chance to become a Certified Personal Trainer through the esteemed National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
Certification: Opportunity to become a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM
Mentors: Malik Jones, Competitive Sports and Camps Coordinator
- Participate in a one-on-one mentorship with experienced fitness professionals.
- Observe and learn practices in personal training setting.
- Receive guidance on certification study materials and preparation.
- Gain practical, on-field experience in fitness training techniques.
- Collaborate with the Rec Sports team to deliver exceptional fitness services.
- Help in the monitoring of fitness classes.
- Ensure the safe use of exercise equipment.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Be Enrolled in TAMUK Summer or Fall 2025
- Have or Currently Pursuing CPR/AED Certification
- Pursuing a Degree in Kinesiology or Related Field
- Passion for Fitness and Desire to Pursue a Career in Personal Training
- Strong Interpersonal skills and Ability to Work Well in a Team Setting
- Willingness to Learn and Adapt in a Dynamic Environment
- Commitment to the Training Duration and Fulfilling Responsibilities.
