Soprano Katherine Ragan is a South 51³Ô¹ÏÍø native and proud TAMUK alumni, currently serving as the Adjunct Professor of Voice at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK) and freelance musician in the Coastal Bend area. Performance engagements include Lady Billows in Spotlight on Opera’s production of Albert Herring, Prince Orlofsky in UTSA Lyric Theater ‘s production of Die Fledermaus, Contessa Almaviva in TAMUK’s production of Le Nozze di Figaro, and Pamina in The Magic Flute.
Professor Ragan holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance & Pedagogy from the University of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø at San Antonio where she studied voice with Dr. Susan Olson and was the voice Graduate Assistant for Recruitment in the UTSA School of Music. She also holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with an emphasis in voice from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø A&M University Kingsville, where she graduated Cum Laude. While at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø A&M University-Kingsville she studied voice with Dr. Melinda Brou.
Before joining the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø A&M University-Kingsville faculty, Prof. Ragan enjoyed a successful teaching career, teaching in several parts of south 51³Ô¹ÏÍø where she held positions as Head Choral Director, Middle School Choir Director, and Elementary Music Specialist. It was during this time teaching in public education that Prof. Ragan found the passion she holds today in preparing pre-service teachers for their future careers as music educators and professional musicians. In her free time, she enjoys going on adventures with her daughter, baking, and traveling.
Katherine Ragan is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Music Educators Association, The Singing Classroom, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
