Dr. Saoli Chanda is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Environmental Sciences at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø A&M University–Kingsville (TAMUK). Dr. Chanda is currently teaching courses on fruit production, weed management, statistics in agriculture (undergrad), and advanced statistics (grad) in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at TAMUK. Dr. Chanda's research interests majorly focused on crop production, soil fertility and plant productivity, organic farming, wetland soil ecology, sustainable ecosystems, and precision agriculture. She received her doctoral degree in Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition from Louisiana State University (LSU), Baton Rouge. During her Ph.D. she worked on the relation between nitrogen fertilization, crop biomass production, and canopy spectral reflectance. She received her Master's (in Agronomy, focusing on irrigation and nutrient management) and BS (majoring in Agronomy and Soil Science) degrees from India.

Dr. Chanda has contributed to agricultural research, securing nearly $900,000 in federal and state funding as both Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) for multiple projects. She has published several peer-reviewed articles, extension and media articles, book chapters. She presented her research at various national and international conferences. As a dedicated mentor, Dr. Chanda has supervised student projects, including those on biochar use to control agricultural chemical runoff, microbial inoculants to alleviate salinity stress, cover crops to improve soil health and more. She has also organized workshops on statistical analysis and crop simulation models for agricultural students. In her postdoctoral roles at Florida International University, she led projects focused on phosphorus loading impacted by the restored hydrology in the Everglades National Park, impact of climate change on resiliency of Florida tomato and strawberry supply chain, and the use of biofertilizers collected from polluted lakes to improve soil health.
